"Pray,
then, in this way: 'Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name,
Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done, On earth as it is in heaven..." -Jesus
Christ- Matthew 6:9,10 -The New Testament
Almost
the whole Western world has heard these words affectionately known as "The
Lords Prayer." A great many have repeated it in a church or synagogue (known
as part of the Mishna.) As we begin to understand its meaning, we see a
great truth somehow hidden behind its elegance and poetic phrasing. The
fact that the greatest man that ever walked this planet in humbleness and
holiness, gave us a simple view of His Father's will.
Of
all the things that God fearing human beings should expect from their Creator,
the very first is that His kingdom should be anticipated to come to earth.
And of all the things that God should expect from His creation, the very
first is a desire to pattern its governments according to His Moral Government
in Heaven.
Before
the coming of Jesus Christ, a very different governmental system was demanded
of human beings in order to bring about reconciliation to God. The Old
Testament gave mankind the only system of government and accurate laws
suited for our nature. Since the arrival of the greatest messenger ever
sent to earth, John the Baptist, a new system of government overcame the
former and is now in fulfillment of all God's desires for this race.
"The
law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God
is preached, and every man presseth into it. And it is easier for heaven
and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail." -Luke 16:16,17
-The New Testament
And just
what is this system?
"God,
who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers
by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom
he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person,
and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself
purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high." -Hebrews
1:1-3 -The New Testament
This same
Jesus Christ and the impact of His atonement for sin has been greatly underestimated
by this planet. And what bearing does this Savior's life, death and resurrection
have on other civilizations in the universe?
"For
it was the Father's good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him,
and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through
the blood of His cross: through Him, I say, whether things on earth or
things in heaven(Lit., the heavens)." -Colossians 1:19,20 -The New Testament
What does
our planet have to offer these beings so advanced beyond our technological
dreams? The Bible seems to imply: just the very history, and future
reconciliation of the universe! The spot where the Creator took
the form of the created and lived and died with a unique and desperate
race known as humans.
Perhaps
these intelligent visitors are still trying to logically understand why
the Author of Life was greeted with such hatred and scorn, eventually being
publicly executed. Or perhaps more fearful yet, they see this planet's
rejection of the truth and growing love of evil, and question whether our
race was worthy of that greatest of sacrifices?
Our
desire is to declare to all who will listen and search for truth; YES,
the sacrifice is worth it!
"And
I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and
the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times
ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; Saying with a loud voice, Worthy
is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and
strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. And every creature which
is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in
the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour,
and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto
the Lamb for ever and ever." -Revelation 5:11-13 -The New Testament
